Recently, there was a fire at Bayport Yachting Centre in Midland Ontario. Two boats were destroyed but fortunately, no one was injured. It did, however, get Scott Cain, Manager at Bayport, thinking and he is now strongly recommending that boaters install smoke detectors on their boat. Even if they are not there, a fire caused by an electrical short would set it off thus alerting any neighbouring boaters who might be at the Marina. It is not unusual for boatersd to contact the marina office if they hear alarms of any kiond going off on an unoccupied boat and Marina staff always check it out. A good idea!!!!!
